Will Hubli - Dharwad become an IT hub in the near future?
Well, Hubli - Dharwad has the potential to transform itself into an IT hub and with the Aryabhata Tech Park becoming a reality, there is hope.
The earlier efforts of attracting IT companies to the twin-cities could not yield great results. An IT park constructed in the city didn't find enough takers due to issues like recession in the IT industry during the year 2001 and unavailability of air services then. (regular air services from Hubli started only in August 2003 with the launch of Air Deccan) An effort by the state government to attract Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to establish an unit here did not materialize. Of late, few companies which have set up their units in the twin cities. Notable among them are Firstsource, Neilsoft, NSI and Sankalp Semiconductor. Lets hope that more and more companies start their operations in the Aryabhata Tech Park.
